VITA: Sein Weg als Autor und Regisseur begann während seines Studiums der Kunst und Visuellen Kommunikation u. a. bei Manfred Vosz (Film), Floris M. Neusüss (Fotografie) und Rudolf zur Lippe (Ästhetik). Nach dem Studium sammelte er zunächst Erfahrungen als Regieassistent beim Spielfilm. Zunächst in Deutschland, später in Frankreich, wo auch seine ersten Kurzfilme entstanden. Unter dem Einfluss des französischen Kinos schärfte er seinen Blick für die ästhetische Radikalität der Mise en scène und entwickelte so eine eigene Handschrift. Seit 1994 ist Christoph Weinert freier Autor und Regisseur zahlreicher, meist internationaler Film- und Fernsehproduktionen. Dreharbeiten führten ihn in über 20 Länder. Mit der Zeit kristallisierte sich eine besondere Leidenschaft für Doku-Dramen und BioPics heraus – filmische Formen, die erzählerische Kraft mit dokumentarischer Tiefe verbinden und so eine eigene Wahrheit entfalten. Aus dieser Erfahrung erwuchs die Überzeugung, dass die filmische Umsetzung, ob Dokumentar- oder Spielfilm, nicht vorgegeben ist, sondern sich aus dem jeweiligen Stoff entwickelt. In jüngster Zeit entstanden mehrere Kino-Dokumentarfilme, u. a. ACHT GESCHWISTER, mit dem er den Begriff des Non-fiktionalen Erzählkinos prägte. Nach seinem jüngsten Filmprojekt, der französisch-schweizer Kinokoproduktion CINÉASTE ET VISIONNAIRE, arbeitet er derzeit an mehreren fiktionalen und dokumentarischen Stoffen für den deutschen und internationalen Kino- und TV-Markt. VITA (EN): His path as a director began while he was studying fine arts and visual communication under Manfred Vosz (film), Floris M. Neusüss (photography), and Rudolf zur Lippe (aesthetics). After graduating, he gained experience as an assistant director on feature films, first in Germany and later in France, where he also made his first short films. Influenced by French cinema, he sharpened his eye for the aesthetic radicalism of mise en scène and developed his own signature style. Since 1994, Christoph Weinert has been a freelance writer and director of numerous, mostly international film and television productions. Filming has taken him to over 20 countries. Over time, a particular passion for docudramas and biopics emerged—cinematic forms that combine narrative power with documentary depth, thus unfolding their own truth. This experience led to the conviction that the cinematic realization, whether documentary or feature film, is not predetermined but develops from the respective material. Recently, he has made several cinema documentaries, including the film ACHT GESCHWISTER (Eight Siblings), with which he coined the term “non-fictional narrative cinema.” After his latest film project, the French-Swiss cinema co-production CINÉASTE ET VISIONNAIRE, he is currently working on several fictional and documentary projects for the German and international cinema and TV market.
